Initial Organization & Setup

Typically $350–$700, depending on complexity

We begin by learning how your household finances are organized and establishing a reliable system for ongoing financial administration.


Initial work may include:


  • Reviewing accounts and recurring bills
  • Organizing financial records and important documents
  • Identifying trusted professionals and authorized family members
  • Establishing secure document and communication procedures
  • Creating an organized system for ongoing financial administration


A household that is already well organized may require considerably less initial work. More complicated situations may require additional time. We will discuss the expected work and cost with you before proceeding.

Standard Daily Money Management

$125 per hour

Most ongoing Heart & Ledger services are provided at our standard rate.


Services may include:


  • Bill payment and cash-flow administration
  • Account monitoring and reconciliation
  • Review of bank and credit-card activity
  • Financial record and document organization
  • Monitoring recurring and automatic payments
  • Gathering and organizing records for tax preparation
  • Routine billing and account follow-up
  • Routine communication with authorized family members

Complex Daily Money Management

$165 per hour

Some circumstances require greater research, coordination, problem-solving, or professional responsibility.


The complex rate may apply to:


  • Significant account discrepancies
  • Complicated billing or payment problems
  • Multiple financial institutions or unusually complicated accounts
  • Extensive research or investigation
  • Financial administration following the loss of a spouse
  • Illness or declining ability to manage financial responsibilities
  • Significant family or care transitions
  • Coordination involving multiple authorized family members
  • Substantive work with attorneys, CPAs, financial advisors, banks, insurance companies, or care providers


Whenever practical, we will discuss significant complex work with you before proceeding.

Have a question about a bill? See a transaction you don't recognize? Concerned about Mom or Dad? Simply need reassurance that things are being handled?

  • Call us. Routine telephone conversations are included at no additional charge.


If a telephone call identifies an issue requiring research, account work, problem-solving, or professional coordination, the work required to resolve the issue may be billable.

Family Meetings Are Included

Good communication with families is part of good Daily Money Management.

Less than 3 hours of professional service during the month:

Up to 30 minutes of family meeting time is included.


3 hours or more of professional service during the month:

Up to 1 hour of family meeting time is included.



Additional meeting time is billed in 15-minute increments at the standard $125 hourly rate.

Travel

Client-related mileage is charged at the applicable standard IRS business mileage rate.
